Wick of Despair

This was a group project in the form of a game jam competition done as part of our formation at UQAT in 2023. We were competing against 10 other teams to prove our game's potential and feasibility to the teachers as games were cut over time. In the end, the losing teams joined the production of the last 2 games which will eventually be released on Steam in 2024. We reached the finals and were one of 4 projects that entered production but Wick of Despair was eventually cut.

As the only artist that was part of the project since the beginning, I had to plan and sell the artistic direction of the project during pre-production and served the role of environment lead once production began. My tasks included planning the metrics and modular system with the level designers, creating and assembling documentation, planning and explaining our workflow, planning the art team's tasks, keeping an eye on the other artist's progress, giving constructive feedback, helping the other artists, creating most of the environmental 3D assets, creating a set of tileable textures for the environment, creating materials, implementing and placing decals, assisting with the level art, and ensuring the project's nomenclature is respected.

The design and programming team consisted of Esteban Gilbert, David Céré, Roman Cros, Maxime Rioux, Sasha Fortier, Vincent Nadeau, and Nicolas Nguyen.

The art team consisted of Justin Daigle, Nathan Flayeux, Renaud Bélanger, Benjamin Boulet-Bendezu, Bianca St-Germain, and myself.
